About Bethany Medical Missionary College (BMMC)
Our Mission
Equipping disciples to take the gospel of Jesus paired with the health message of the
Seventh-day Adventist Church to all the villages of Guyana and abroad utilizing trained
medical and evangelism missionaries.
Core Objectives:
- Training
To give training in the various aspects of medical and evangelistic outreach
- Education
To grow students in the image of Christ by giving them a Bible-based, Christ-centered
education that enables mature Christian thinking and practice.
- Worship
To give students an environment where true worship is both practiced and encouraged.
- Personal Relationship with God
To enable students to grow in their personal relationship with God by providing a
nurturing spiritual environment.
- Healing
Finding wholeness out of brokenness by experiencing the life and death of Christ. To
provide training for physical healing.
- Discipling
Mentoring disciples to Christ-like leadership.

Meet the Staff
Gilbert and Melissa Sissons are the founders of BMMC. Gilbert is the principal and head Bible teacher
Melissa is a registered nurse and a health instructor.
TERRI THOMAS is the Dean of Women. She has a degree in Health Education and will teach many of the
health classes offered.
DAWN VARNEY is the Assistant Women’s Dean. She is a Registered Nurse and will teach Anatomy
and Physiology and other health classes.
Stephan O'Barr is the Dean of Men and is using his skills as an EMT to lead out in our First Aid class.
